Amanda Holden breaks down in tears over her 11-year-old daughter Hollie, who is dropping out of high school, admitting: “I feel depressed, it’s the end of an era.”
Amanda Holden broke down in tears while talking about her youngest daughter Hollie leaving high school during her Heart FM radio show on Thursday.
Amanda, 52, told co-host Jamie Theakston, also 52: ‘I’m not going to lie. I feel a little down today.
She continued: ‘I think there could be a lot of moms and dads who feel like me today. I was kind of okay.
‘And then I saw, I went down to the prep gate of my daughter’s school yesterday to see her and all her little friends that she’s been at that school with since she was four years old.
‘And they all walked out the doors, all crying… except my daughter. It was like, “I don’t know why everyone is crying, mommy, we’ll see you in the seventh year in the co-ed school.” And I say, “it’s the end of an era.”

Jamie asked Amanda if she was crying.
She said ‘Well, I was absolutely fine until I gave one of my favorite teachers […] a hug because you have been an exemplary teacher and helped Hollie to overcome many things.
‘And I gave him a hug and then I started crying. I’m thinking about it now. She is making me very sad. Is like it’s the end of the era… they’re 11….’
Teasing her jokingly, Jamie said: ‘It’s not, it’s the end of the period.
Amanda replied, ‘And then they go to the big school and you can’t find them anymore. And they don’t… and they just snarl at you, and you can’t get any information out of them.
‘And everything begins. I’m just 17 1/2 and they’re still growling…
Jamie asked, ‘Can I ask you another question? Did you celebrate with any of the other moms afterwards?’
She said: ‘Well, every year, me and my lovely mothers from school, who I couldn’t live without either. They all go to the park for a picnic. A liquid picnic.
We all brought our picnics and blankets and yesterday our umbrellas. We sit under the umbrellas remembering our rosé.
Started at 12 and finished at seven o’clock…’
Amanda is also the mother of her 17-year-old daughter Lexi, whom she shares with her husband Chris Hughes.
