Australian Olympic diver Alysha Koloi has been bombarded with horrific sexist comments after posting a simple photo of herself competing during the Paris Games.

The 22-year-old competed in the three-metre springboard event in France, reaching the semi-final after finishing 16th in the preliminaries.

On Thursday, she posted an old photo showing her looking over her shoulder and with her back to the camera while competing at a meet in Canada, accompanied by the caption “next step,” prompting a long list of sickeningly sexist comments.

Comments such as: ‘The next step is to create an account (OnlyFans)’, ‘I’d rather swim with you’ and ‘clean me up’ were some of the more moderate responses to the post.

Other commentators sarcastically ignored Koloi’s sporting credentials (which include gold at the World Aquatics Championships in February) to focus exclusively on her looks.

“I’m actually a huge fan of any sport you compete in,” one wrote.

“I’ve always liked this sport. By the way, what is it?” added another.

“What sport are you competing in? I want to watch it with great interest,” wrote a third commenter.

Koloi, who won gold at the World Aquatics Championships in February this year, did not let “a little slip” get her down and won the preliminaries in Paris this week.

Daily Mail Australia has decided not to publish several other responses to the post.

Koloi’s 16th place in Paris would have been much better had it not been for a small mistake on his fourth jump.

“I’m actually pretty proud of how I competed,” she said. News Corporation after his effort in the preliminaries.

‘I had a little slip-up, but I’m not disappointed at all with my consistency.

“I’m proud of how I held myself together and really happy to have made it to the semi-finals.”

If the 22-year-old can repeat her form from this year’s World Championships in Qatar, she could win a medal in Paris.

She took the one-metre springboard title after jumping into the lead with the fourth of her five dives in the event, but the powerful Chinese team did not compete to concentrate on the Games in France.

Brisbane native Koloi, who also finished fifth in the 3m synchronised springboard event at the 2023 Diving World Cup, is a former gymnast.
