New Orleans Saints star Alvin Kamara emphatically shut down rumors that he was looking for a way out to the Big Easy in a series of social media rants on Saturday.
The receiver took to social media over the weekend to respond to online claims that he had requested a trade from New Orleans following the Saints’ 33-10 Week 7 loss at the hands of the Denver Broncos.
The 29-year-old called a report “incorrect” when he responded to a post that has since been deleted, stating that he had “formally requested a trade.”
The veteran’s tirade against the rumors continued in another tweet in which he criticized them as a lie and suggested he was on his way to Tennessee to watch his alma mater take on Alabama in a key SEC matchup on Saturday.
‘I’m not requesting a trade… so that’s a lie. “I’m in an orange robe on my way to Knoxville… #WhoDat,” he posted.

Kamara later doubled down on his insistence that he would stay in New Orleans and warned fans not to believe any trade rumors unless the information came from himself.
“If there’s any news, I’ll report that shit from my couch I guess… or I’ll call my brother @Cantguardmike and tell him the news other than that, we’re excited,” he wrote, referring to free. Agent Michael Thomas.
Trade speculation came after Kamara suffered his worst game of the season in Thursday night’s loss to the Broncos.
The receiver ran for just 10 yards on seven carries and caught six passes for 14 yards in the Saints’ home loss.
Kamara enjoyed a spectacular start to the season, as did the entire Saints team, rushing for 362 yards and five touchdowns while catching 17 passes for 174 yards and a score in the first four games.
The stellar start was highlighted by 180 total yards and four touchdowns in a 44-19 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2.
He continued his online rant, calling the rumor a “lie” and saying the news would come from him.
The veteran enjoyed an explosive start to the season, but his production has fallen off recently.
However, his production has taken a considerable hit over the past three weeks, with Kamara managing just 76 rushing yards and a touchdown on 31 carries along with 17 receptions for 78 yards.
The Saints are off to an explosive start to the season going 2-0 through the first two weeks under new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.
But they have since fallen to a five-game skid, averaging just 17.3 over the past five weeks with veteran quarterback Derek Carr sidelined by injury.
The Saints rewarded Kamara with a five-year, $75 million contract in 2020, which will expire at the end of the 2025 season.
