Heartless thieves have been busted after 75 plaques were stolen from a children’s cemetery in Melbourne’s west.
Investigators believe they were stolen from Altona Memorial Park on Dohertys Road sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday.
A Victoria Police spokesman told Daily Mail Australia that the bronze plaques were erected in memory of children by their families in the ‘Garden of Little Angels’.

The plates are suspected to have been stolen to be melted down and sold for their high scrap value.
Detectives warned scrap dealers to be on the lookout for thieves trying to sell the plates and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
This was told by the staff at a local junk shop Sky News the act is ‘despicable’.
“We would not take the records because we know they are stolen,” said the staff, who wished to remain anonymous.
“The moment staff see something they don’t think is right, they will take down the number plate, address and name.”

The thieves would need an ABN to legally sell the bronze through scrap shops.
The police are investigating the matter and urge anyone with information to come forward.
