Alton Towers' 'darling' Nemesis ride has finally reopened after 18 months of closure, with a brand new design and new name - Nemesis Reborn

Roller coaster enthusiasts have been passionate about it for 30 years. But now Alton Towers’ ‘darling’ nemesis has been ‘born again’.

After closing its doors in November 2022 to undergo a complete refurbishment, the iconic Staffordshire attraction has officially reopened with a brand new design and new name: ‘Nemesis Reborn’.

The roller coaster’s 250-ton, 716-meter-long white track is now black, with “mysterious” red veins snaking along it. And new audiovisual technology has been implemented, immersing visitors in an “immersive experience from the start”.

Dramatic drone footage was released on Friday showing the ride in action, with fans able to strap in for the first time on Saturday and experience its four complete inversions, “hair-raising corkscrews” and its “breathtaking drops”, as well as speeds. of 50 mph and G-forces of 3.5.

The story behind the transformation is that Nemesis is “now a predator, seeking revenge on the dark organization Phalanx that kept him prisoner.”
