A teenager was rushed to hospital in a critical condition after an outing to an ice skating rink ended in horror.
The boy is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries at the Alpine Ice Sports Centre in Christchurch, New Zealand, on Tuesday morning.
Emergency services were called to the rink after receiving reports that a student on a school trip had suffered a serious fall while skating on the ice.
Two ambulances were dispatched to the track, where paramedics treated the boy before he was rushed to hospital. Christchurch Hospital.

An employee told the publication that the rink was closed for the rest of the day “out of respect” for the boy.
A police spokesman said WorkSafe had been informed and investigations were ongoing.
