Ally McCoist has urged one of Manchester United’s favorites to leave the club this summer.
The club is planning a brutal fire sale to clean up the squad and free up funds for new signings.
Only three players are said to be safe: Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, according to The Telegraph.
The club’s new hierarchy, headed by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and incoming chief executive Omar Berrada, will be brutal. The lack of revenue from the Champions League only exacerbates the need to sell.
Even Marcus Rashford, who has been at the club since he was seven in 2005, is not free from the scythe as United will listen to offers for him.
Ally McCoist has named the only Manchester United star she believes should move on this summer
The player in question is Marcus Rashford, a former servant of the club who has had a difficult season personally and on the field.
And McCoist believes he has to move on, for his own benefit and that of United.
“Looking at Marcus Rashford, I honestly think it’s best for all parties for him to go and find a new challenge somewhere else,” he said. talkSPORT.
“I think he needs it and I think Manchester United fans are starting to run out of patience with him and some others in the team. I look at his body language and he just doesn’t seem happy.”
Rashford has scored eight goals in 40 games this season, his second worst figure in the famous red. Last season he achieved 30 in a clear example of his potential.
He recently posted a concerning message on X, formerly Twitter, claiming he had suffered “months of abuse” in response to a post claiming criticism of him was unfair.
It is not the first time that Rashford has defended himself this season. In February, he wrote a first-person article for The Players’ Tribune.
“I can accept any criticism,” Rashford wrote. “But if you start questioning my commitment to this club and my love for football and bringing my family to it, then I would just ask you to have a little more humanity.”
His mother, Melanie Maynard, even wrote an article for The Times explaining that he had lost two people close to him in the last 18 months: his cousin Nathan and a family friend named Garf.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe arrives at a time when clubs are under greater financial constraints
“Marcus is human, so he will have ups and downs in his life like everyone else,” she wrote.
A microscopic focus on his personal life hasn’t helped him make headlines. His 12-hour ‘tequila drink’ in Belfast in January, the night before he had to go to training because he was ill, sparked fury among fans and scrutiny of his commitment.
Salaries of £315,000 a week will always invite scrutiny at the highest level.
sport mail‘s Chris Wheeler first reported that selling Rashford is an option. Given that 100 percent of the profits from the exchange of local players go towards compliance with FFP regulations, a sale can fit into INEOS’ commitment to an intense economic campaign.
Paris Saint-Germain, who held talks with Rashford’s representatives two years ago, are one of the few clubs who could realistically match his £75m to £100m valuation and shell out cash for his strong personal terms as they look to replace to Real Madrid. obligatory Kylian Mbappé.
Mail Sport understands United continue to believe in Rashford and want him to succeed after investing so much in him with a bumper new contract.
United are interested in a new striker, central midfielder and centre-back. Raphel Varane will leave because the club does not offer an extension to his £340,000-a-week terms. Casemiro is also shaping up to leave.
If United were to miss out on European football entirely next season, they would have to adopt a drastic sell-to-buy policy. Their ability to spend ahead of next season has been hampered by their spending of £555m over the previous three summers.
PSG is one of the only clubs that can afford Rashford’s transfer and salary
Rashford thanked fans online for their support before claiming he had had “enough” of the abuse.
Some United fans believe YouTuber Mark Goldbridge of The United Channel is partly to blame
Manager Erik Ten Hag insisted Rashford needed the support of the fans, but also admitted the player needs to reflect on why his form has slipped.
“I have a lot of sympathy for Rashy, of course,” Ten Hag said.
“Last year he had a brilliant season, the best season of his career, scoring 30 goals, so you see what he is capable of.
‘This season has not given the performances and people are very critical. I think we have to support it.
“Everyone should get behind him and push him to get back to the levels he had last year.”
