All the Shadow and Bone season 3 news we’ve heard so far

Shadow and bonesSeason 2 has begun as Alina, Mal, the Crows and everyone else battle the Darkling and the Fold. While season 2 is already action-packed and bursting with plot, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for a third season – as long as Netflix gives it the green light.

Although Netflix has not officially given the green light for a new season of Shadow and bones so far, there’s still some information floating around Season 3, including a few words from showrunner Eric Heisserer himself. Here’s everything we know Shadow and bones season 3 so far.

Will Shadow and Bone get a third season?

Netflix has not yet made an official announcement about the return of Shadow and bones, but that’s not surprising. After the show’s first season, it was not renewed until June 2021, several months after its late April release date. In other words, it’s not time to panic just yet; Netflix could get an extension in the future.

When is Shadow and Bone season 3 coming out?

Going by the first and second seasons, we’re probably looking at a two-year gap between seasons. And given that Netflix didn’t immediately announce a new season, it seems likely that the show isn’t currently in production and that a third season would be at least as long as season 2.

Will Mal and Alina appear in Season 3 of Shadow and Bone?

It certainly looks like it, and it certainly looks like they won’t be in the same place together, at least not when the season starts. Season 2 of Shadow and bones changed the plot of the books significantly, breaking up Mal and Alina and sending them in different directions – while the book had them stick together as the (powerless) owners of the orphanage that first brought them together.

In an upcoming interview with Polygon, showrunner Eric Heisserer explained that the decision was made because it was in the best interest of the show and to continue.

“We don’t want to lose Archie and Jessie to a cottage from a practical point of view,” Heisserer said. “That would be a terrible choice on our part. They are wonderful people, as Jessie brings a brightness to the set every time she shows up.

Will the Crows be in Shadow and Bone Season 3?

It certainly looks like the show will make them a focus again when it returns for a third season. The Crows themselves are already fan favorite characters, and now it seems some of them have teamed up with Mal on some piracy adventures of privateers.
