Summer Game Fest 2023 has finally ended, and Jeff Kelly has reviewed many revelations and updates about completely new or previously announced games.
The highlights of the event were two huge PlayStation 5 games: Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. We were also surprised to reveal an all-new Prince of Persia game, a gameplay demo of Mortal Kombat 1, a new 2D Sonic game, and much more. Here’s everything that was revealed during this year’s Summer Game Fest.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming in early 2024
We got our first actual look at the sequel to Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Which will be released on PlayStation 5 early next year.
Spider-Man 2 is coming on October 20, 2023
Just days after Sony revealed the amazing gameplay in Spider-Man 2, the release date of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive was revealed at Summer Game Fest: October 20th. We also got the cover art featuring Peter and Miles in their suits shooting nets, and we learned that Venom won’t be Eddie Brock.
Announcing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which will be released next year
Summer Game Fest kicked off with a big surprise: an all-new Prince of Persia game coming early next year. Available on PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on January 18, 2024, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an all-new platform game with a vibrant art style.
Mortal Kombat 1 gets a bloody demo of gameplay
Mortal Kombat 1 comes out later this year, and we got a fresh look at the gameplay for the next game in the new series.
Fortnite Wilds reveals partnership with Transformers
We got our first look at Fortnite: Chapter 4, Season 3 called Fortnite Wilds. The cinematic showed the characters trekking through the woods before encountering Optimus Prime, revealing a partnership with the Transformers brand.
Announcing the upcoming Sonic Superstars game this year
Sega unveils Sonic Superstars, an all-new platform game from Sonic with four-player co-op. Players can choose between Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy Rose and up to 4 players can play at the same time. It will be released on all platforms this fall.
Alan Wake 2 gets a huge gameplay reveal
Alan Wake 2 releases on October 17th, and we got our best look at the game yet at Summer Game Fest. The game features two playable characters: Alan Wake and Saga Anderson, with a 50-50 split between the two for gameplay. Saga is an FBI agent in the Pacific Northwest, while Alan Wake tries to escape from the nightmarish dimension.
Like a Dragon: Gaiden is coming out this November
It’s been officially revealed that Like a Dragon: Gaiden – The Man Who Erased His Name will be released on November 9th. It is a spin-off in the Like a Dragon (formerly known as Yakuza) series and will see the return of the protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu.
Announcing Star Trek Infinite
We got a teaser for Star Trek Infinite, a new strategy game coming from Paradox. The game is in development at Quantum League developer Nimble Giant Entertainment. The full reveal is coming June 16th.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando game revealed
Saber Interactive, Focus Entertainment and John Carpenter have revealed John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, a new first-person shooter coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC next year.
New action game SandLand from Akira Toriyama and Bandai Namco revealed
We got our first look at Bandai Namco’s new SandLand, coming to PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It features Akira Toriyama’s signature art style that is instantly reminiscent of Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest. But the release date has not been revealed yet.
Unveiling a Pokemon-like Palworld…but with firearms
We got an extended look at Palworld, a game about collecting monster friends and then equipping them with guns. The game will be released via early access next January.
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria releases this fall
The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria has a release window: Fall 2023. The game is described as a survival adventure that will take place in the Fourth Age of Middle-earth.
Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will be in closed beta
The Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Beta launches today and runs until June 28th. First announced in 2021, the game is a compilation of every story told in the Final Fantasy VII universe. There will also be new story elements that focus on SOLDIER’s origins.
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a new action RPG game from Vampyr developers
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was revealed during Summer Game Fest. The new gameplay clip showcased the game’s tense atmosphere, which includes ghosts, wolves, and more.
Baldur’s Gate 3 features Jason Isaacs as the main villain
Jason Isaacs, best known for playing Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter series and Captain Hook in 2003’s Peter Pan, joins Baldur’s Gate 3 as a major villain. The actor has appeared in video games before, including Marvel’s Midnight Suns and The Last Worker.
Twisted Metal premieres on Peacock July 27
Will Arnett attended Summer Game Fest to reveal a look at Twisted Metal, which premieres on Peacock July 27.
Marvel Snap is getting a new competitive mode
Marvel Snap will soon introduce Conquest, a new competitive mode coming to the card game on June 13th. The phase will add a single-elimination tournament to the game, with the tournament taking place over the course of each season.
New trailer for Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
We took a fresh look at the next season of Modern Warfare 2, which is coming June 14th. The show featured stages themed to a castle, a football stadium, and an abandoned zoo.
Path of Exile 2 gameplay demo
We got a fresh look at the gameplay of Path of Exile 2, our upcoming action RPG. The gameplay snippets were pretty short, and featured a wizard killing monsters with electric magic. The end of the show revealed that we’ll know more on July 28th.
Exoprimal will have a cross-play event with Street Fighter 6
Capcom tricked us into their announcement about the event, as Jeff Kelly originally presented the story as a Street Fighter 2 post-game trailer. Instead, it turned out to be a collaboration between Capcom and Exoprimal, with Mecha Ryu taking on two Exoprimal dinosaur robots. Exoprimal releases on July 14, with syndication with Street Fighter 6 due this fall.
Lies of P gets a new demo and release date
Lies of P now releases on September 19th, a slight delay from the previous August date. However, players can play a demo featuring the first two chapters of the game, which includes three boss battles and multiple locations to explore.

Netflix has revealed the official premiere of The Witcher season 3, which premieres on June 29.
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 co-op revealed
Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 will feature three co-op modes throughout the campaign. We got a new gameplay trailer revealing returning hero Titus is teaming up with two fellow Space Marines to tear apart the Tyranid hordes. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime this winter.
Nicolas Cage is coming to Dead By Daylight
We previously learned about the appearance of actor Nicolas Cage in Dead by Daylight, and today the actor surprised us by appearing on the Summer Game Fest stage and confirming his character’s availability for testing on July 25th.
Announcing a sequel to Yes, Your Grace
Yes, Your Grace: Snowfall, the sequel to the 2020 standalone game from Brave in Night and No More Robots, has been revealed. The original game was about making choices about how to rule your kingdom, and the sequel seems to be taking the idea and expanding on it with a new wintry vibe. The game will come out sometime next year.
Witchfire is coming to Early Access in September
The next trailer shown was Witchfire, from the creators of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Painkiller, and Bulletstorm. Witchfire launches via early access on September 20th.
Remnant 2 release date revealed
Gunfire Games’ Remnant 2 releases next month, on July 25th. It is a sequel to the game referred to as “Dark Souls with Guns”, and it comes with auto-generated stages and stories.
Immortals of Aveum gets an extended gameplay demo
We got an extended look at the gameplay of Immortals of Aveum, the first-person shooter from Ascendant Studios and Electronic Arts.
Under the Waves is coming out in August
We got a new trailer for Under the Waves, a new underwater game from ExtraLy Studio. The gameplay presentation featured a mixture of submarine navigation and diving with a tense atmosphere. The game releases on August 29.
Honkai Star Rail PS5 release window revealed
Honkai Star Rail, which comes from developer Genshin Impact, has a new trailer that showcases new characters for the RPG. We also got a release window for the PlayStation 5 version, which we now know will be coming in the fourth quarter of 2023.
Black Desert Online expansion gets a new trailer
The Black Desert Online Land of the Morning Light expansion launches on June 14, and a new trailer was revealed during the Summer Game Fest event. We’ve seen a look at some of the legendary enemies that draw inspiration from Korean folklore, and more.
Lysfanga: The Time-Shift Warrior announced
We got a look at Lysfanga: The Time-Shift Warrior, in which players can go back in plasmen and make multiple versions of themselves. The game will be released on PC later this year.
FaeFarm Gets release date revealed
FaeFarm releases on Nintendo Switch and PC on September 8th. It allows players to explore the mysteries of the island alone or with up to 3 friends. The game supports local and online multiplayer.
New trailer for Throne and Liberty
The upcoming MMORPG Throne and Liberty has a new trailer that showcases the epic enemies players will face when the game launches on Xbox Series X|S, P5 and PC.
Party Animals release date revealed
Party Animals, featuring adorable animals, comes to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on September 20th. And we got a new sneak peek at the game to celebrate the announcement.
Xbox and Porsche collaborate on new designs
