All American fans were left crying after the emotional farewell scenes of actor Kamar de los Reyes after his death from cancer at the age of 56.
The star, who joined the CW series in season 4 as beloved football coach Montes, passed away last December.
He appeared in the sixth season premiere of the long-running CW series, but was unable to film further before his death.
And in Monday’s episode 10, it was revealed that her character did not die in the series. Instead, he accepted a job in the NFL, and his departure was explained during a phone call between Cody Christian’s Asher Adams and Coach Montes.
At the end, the episode also included a tribute card ‘in loving memory’ of the actor that left fans sobbing over the loss of the star.

“I was holding his hand when he passed and I was surrounded by family and friends,” he explained.
‘There was a lot of love around him. I mean, she touched a lot of lives.”
