Alison Steadman has shut down Gavin and Stacey reunion rumours, saying the cast will not be getting back together.
There were recent claims that the BBC and Netflix were in a bidding war for another Christmas episode to follow the hugely successful 2019 special.
But fans hoping to see if Smithy (James Corden) accepted Nessa’s (Ruth Jones) marriage proposal won’t get an answer anytime soon.
Talking to The mirrorAlison, who played Gavin’s mum Pam, confirmed that creators James and Ruth have not reached out to the cast.
She said: ‘If we did another series or episode I would absolutely love it. But at the moment, as far as I know, that’s not going to happen.

‘None of us have been sent scripts, none of us, so until something is definite and it’s announced, I’m not going to agree to anything, it might not happen. It’s all up in the air.’
Alison loves it when fans of the hit BBC sitcom stop her on the tube or bus to tell her what the show means to them.
She said: ‘They’re really nice and they say lovely things like ‘You’ve entertained me and my family all these years’ and ‘You’ve given this the best laugh’, the best thing is if someone says that, I ‘is thrilled to pieces with it.’
It comes after co-creator Ruth shut down rumors that the British sitcom would return again.
The actress confirmed it was ‘unfortunately a rumour’ on RTE Radio 1 in February.
Asked about the reports, she said: ‘There’s obviously a bidding war going on between the BBC and Netflix and I love it because it says ‘a source says’ who is this source?’
Ruth added: ‘Unfortunately it’s a rumour… All I can say is that if there was anything to say on that front, James and I would be happy to announce what we wanted.’
The actress revealed that she believes the rumors were sparked after she was photographed having lunch with Corden a few months back after he returned to the UK from living in America.

“Then the next thing is ‘Oh my god, they’ve got to write more Gavin And Stacey’, which is lovely,” she said.
‘It’s great that people are so desperate for it, because imagine if it was the opposite and was like ‘Oh my God, you’re not bringing it back again’.’
US magazine Deadline reported on Tuesday that the new special was currently in development/pre-production stages and will be produced by Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow, Jones’ Tidy Productions and Fulwell 73, which is co-owned by Corden.
The comedy followed the two titular characters Gavin and Stacey, played by Mathew Horne and Joanna Page, as they pursued a relationship across Essex and Wales.
It ran for three series from 2007 to 2010, returning in 2019 for a festive special that picked up 10 years after the previous installment.
At the climax of the episode, Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy, played by Corden, but viewers didn’t get to hear his response.
Ruth Jones, who starred in and co-created the sitcom with James Corden, said talk of a Christmas special was “unfortunately a rumour” on RTE Radio 1
The couple had an on-off relationship during the series, and in the special it was revealed that they successfully parented their son, Neil.
Reflecting on the cliffhanger, Jones said: ‘I like the idea of it just being there and us wondering ‘What did she say? Are they together?’
“I think she (Nessa) is still working the pitches and probably coaching the Welsh rugby team because she’s very good at it.”
During its time it graduated from BBC Three to BBC One and received several accolades including Bafta and British Comedy Awards gongs.
