Alison Hammond has revealed her frustration with Paul Hollywood during filming of The Great New Year’s Bake Off over his choice of outfit, which she claims affected the festive fun.
Following The Great Christmas Bake Off, which crowned Emmerdale star Chris Bisson as its champion, preparations for the Hogmanay-themed New Year’s episode were in full swing.
In the special episode, former Scottish contestants return, including Nicky, Peter, Lea, Kevin, James and Norman, who are tasked with creating cakes inspired by their heritage.
The New Year’s show will see the arrival of a ceilidh band, adding to the Scottish celebrations in the iconic Bake Off tent.
While the judges and presenters embraced the Scottish theme with tartan outfits, Alison revealed she was left disappointed by Paul Hollywood’s kilt outfit.

‘Paul was wearing a kilt… and so was Prue. Well, she was wearing a tartan skirt… And Paul was wearing his pants underneath. We were really upset!’
Contestants faced challenges such as making a traditional signature bake, a technical Scottish shortbread biscuit and a cranachan-inspired Showstopper with oats, whisky, honey, raspberries and cream.
Reflecting on reuniting with previous contestants, Alison said: ‘Nicky from the last series came back and it was lovely to see her again. They were my first Bake Off babies.’
This episode followed The Great Christmas Bake Off, where soap stars including Natalie Cassidy, Dean Gaffney and Sheree Murphy competed for festive baking glory, delivering laughs and a host of heartfelt moments.

It comes after Alison revealed she achieved her staggering 11 stone weight loss without the use of Ozempic.
The This Morning presenter, 49, decided to lose weight after the death of her mother, who had expressed concern about Alison’s pre-diabetic diagnosis.
But Alison, who weighed 11 stone at her heaviest, has now revealed the key to her success was simply cutting out sweets, fatty foods and exercising with a personal trainer.
However, while the judges and presenters embraced the Scottish theme with tartan outfits, Alison revealed she was left disappointed by Paul Hollywood’s kilt outfit.

“So I haven’t wanted to use them, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t do it in the future, and I certainly wouldn’t look down on anyone who did.”
She added: “My mother had type 2 diabetes and she was worried about me, so when I found out I was pre-diabetic, I was scared.”
‘I thought, ‘I have to be an adult about this.’ Sweets had to end, and so did fatty foods.
‘Twice a week I see my personal trainer and I have a couple of weights in my room. I walk, I stretch and sometimes I do a little yoga.’
Amid her body transformation, the broadcaster opted to sell her old size 26 clothes earlier this year for charity in memory of her late mother, who died of liver cancer in 2020.
The star has been open about her struggles with weight over the years and previously admitted she was “so embarrassed” by her weight when she was over 20 stone that she joined Weight Watchers in 2019 to focus on her health.
Alison admitted that she is picked on daily for her size, but refuses to lose weight for others because she likes to take up “a little extra space in the world.”

She vowed to live her life to the “full” and promised she was going to have a “wonderful life” in the heartfelt chat.
Alison, who is admired for her bubbly nature, said she wanted to prioritize her health and wellbeing while juggling her active lifestyle.
She said: “I want my journey to help others think about making lifestyle changes to become the best version of themselves.”
