Alina Habba has ruled herself out of being part of Donald Trump’s ad despite speculation she was the favourite.
The firebrand lawyer was thought to be a leading candidate for one of the administration’s top jobs.
But on Thursday morning he announced he was withdrawing his name from consideration.
“While I am flattered by the support and speculation, the role of Press Secretary is not a role I am considering,” Habba wrote in X. “While I love shouting from a podium, I will be better served in other capacities.”
Alina Habba says she is not considering being Donald Trump’s press secretary
Habba is known as Trump’s attack dog and has been battle-tested when it comes to taking on combative members of the press.
Initially brought into Trump’s circle to be his lawyer on a series of high-profile legal cases, Habba joined the campaign as a senior adviser this summer.
It is unclear whether he will have an official role in the Trump White House.
‘This administration (sic) is going to be epic!’ Habba wrote in X when she made the decision not to be the next press secretary. ‘I am very proud of the Trump team, the latest appointments and 47!’
