Australian fashion designer Alice McCall has revealed that she suffers from a rare health problem that makes her feel as if she is “disconnected” from her surroundings.
In an Instagram post, the 47-year-old said she felt a “sudden disconnection from the world” 18 months ago and hasn’t felt the same since.
The symptoms, which included numbness over the entire surface of his skin, occurred six months before his brand went into liquidation, owing almost a million dollars.
McCall said, “It was like I was energetically disconnected from my surroundings, like my electricity had been turned off.”
;I become something of a spectator, not a participant in life.

‘It was as if I was energetically disconnected from my surroundings, as if my electricity had been cut off. I become something of a spectator, not a participant in life,” she wrote.
McCall said she experienced “a loss of sensation across the entire surface of my skin,” as if her entire sensory or somatosensory nervous system had been “tuned down.”
‘Both sensations have not returned. It is extremely difficult to experience. Additionally, my detox and methylation pathways have also been shut down.
“Every day I feel detached and depressed, but I try not to focus on that and move on.”
McCall said she has contacted doctors, neurologists, naturopaths and even energy and psychic healers to try to get some answers, but has yet to receive a diagnosis.
“It seems like a very abstract condition and difficult for people to understand and diagnose, so I feel minimized and not heard,” she continued.
“But know that just because you can’t see something or label it doesn’t mean it’s not real.”
It comes almost six months after she announced a collaboration with global fast fashion giant Shein, sparking a series of negative reactions from her “disappointed” fans.

However, Ms. McCall mentioned that she believes this experience was “meant to happen” and is due to karma.
‘In fact, I think I had to sacrifice a sense, be it the sense of touch, to activate my sixth sense or intuition and reach a higher consciousness. However, this does not make the experience any easier,” he stated.
“I really try to have a holistic and spiritual perspective on this and I think it can be a portal or a door to my higher potential.”
The post caught the attention of thousands and many wrote loving comments.
“While I have no answers to offer…I honor you for sharing authentically and sending you love on your journey,” one wrote.
“The body keeps score, it sounds like an old trauma, we all endure it, manage it, until we stop.” I hope you find a way to move forward. Thanks for sharing, we need more people to do that,” said another.
A third added: ‘Is it menopause? I feel like our minds and bodies go through a lot of changes and they are all different and vary greatly from woman to woman. It really isn’t talked about enough and it’s like a guessing game. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. It is awful.’
Others also shared their own experiences.
‘Thank you for posting this. The same thing happened to me and I’m still fighting to recover. It’s very hard to explain to people and often people offer very unhelpful comments and things to try or they just say there’s nothing wrong with you because you look good. Good luck,’ one person said.
Another added: ‘Something like this happened to me about ten years ago, but it was my vision. It was like I was looking through a kaleidoscope. I went to all the doctors, kinesiologists, a million different places and no one could tell me what it was.
‘And then after about a year it started to slowly disappear!’ The more I focused on it and thought about it, the worse it got. In fact, it comes back from time to time and now I can see that it is related to anxiety.”
