Alexa can now tell you where to find a COVID-19 vaccine


Amazon’s Alexa devices can now direct customers to vaccination sites from COVID-19, the company announced todayUsers may ask, “Alexa, where can I get a COVID vaccine?” and listen to a list of nearby places to take a photo.

After hearing the list, users can also ask Alexa to call a vaccination site, which the company said in a blog post could help them get information on appointment availability. Making COVID-19 vaccine appointments over the phone is often easier for older adults or other people who have trouble using online scheduling platforms.

Amazon introduced an Alexa feature in February that could direct people to COVID-19 testing sites.

Any adult in the US is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine after every state meets President Joe Biden’s deadline to open access to April 19. The administration of Biden said that 90 percent of people in the US should have a vaccination site within five miles of their home.

Amazon organized pop-up vaccine clinics in Seattle and is also working with health officials to vaccinate his first-line employees in a number of states.

More than half of American adults have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
