Vicky Pattinson and Alex Scott shared their hilarious team bonding moment during Comic Relief’s coldest challenge ever – involving a toe and an armpit.

The two women, along with Laura Whitmore and Sara Davies, took on the Snow Going Back challenge on February 19, covering 50km across the Arctic Circle over four days.

Venturing across the frozen terrain, which is often a training site for British Special Forces, the four women walked, cycled and even skied to reach their objective.

Although the “grueling” task was no walk in the park, the sports expert, 39, and TV personality, 36, revealed there were some hysterical team-building moments along the way.

Discussing how the four of them worked together, Vicky hilariously joked: “I had Alex’s toe in my armpit within 24 minutes of being there.”

Just 24 minutes into their Snow Going Back fundraiser, in which they walked 50km across the Arctic Circle in four days, Alex already had his toe in Vicky's armpit (left to right: Laura Whitmore, Sara Davies, Alex Scott and Vicky Pattison).

The sportscaster, laughing, chimed in: “That’s how you stay warm because because of the cold, you could lose your fingers and toes.”

“So you really need to be a team and help each other, so that was our first bonding moment.”

Chatting about the first all-female Comic Relief challenge, the pair told One Show hosts Lauren Laverne and Jermaine Jenas how they all did their part to get them across the finish line.

Sharing how team spirit helped them get through the arduous journey, Alex at one point brought supplies to his teammates to help lighten the load.

“I think at the time I thought okay, I know I’m physically strong, so now I can take some of the load,” the presenter said.

Explaining that Sara and Vicky kept camp morale high, he added: “We all had different strengths.”

“Everyone got through it at different times and I think it was very inspiring to be a part of this group.”

‘All of us know we are doing it for a greater cause and no one slacked off at all. In reality, we were all trying to do more for each other.

Chatting to Lauren Laverne and Jermaine Jenas (pictured), Vicky said the sportscaster was being “very humble”, describing her as a “weapon”.

At one point, the sports expert, 39, shouldered the burden of her teammates to help lighten the load.

Vicky added: ‘She’s a real weapon, she’s being very modest. The way she pulled the sled some days, without her I don’t know if we would have made it.’

Delving into everyone’s strengths, the former Geordie Shore star said: “Laura was our mother, she was loving, she said ‘how many layers you put on’.”

‘Sarah was the moral one. You can’t be depressed with Sara Davies, you know? And, like I say, she (Alex) was a total weapon.

Vicky joked: ‘I was a Winge’

“Of course not, your personality, you’re fun,” said the sports expert, who described Vicky as the “ultimate team player.”

“You kept morale high and that’s what I can’t wait for everyone to see in the documentary.”

Some of the money raised during their treacherous challenge will go to charities such as Hebburn Helps Foodbank in South Tyneside, not far from where Vicky is from.

The reality TV star revealed she learned some heartbreaking statistics while visiting the food bank just a stone’s throw from her home one day before embarking on the icy adventure.

“Three out of every four people who visit food banks are going to be women and that’s because 65 percent of household chores always fall to women,” she said.

‘Raising children and looking after the house is traditionally women’s work, so all the pressure falls on them.

“So not only were we Comic Relief’s first all-female challenge, but we were girls doing it for girls and we thought that was really important.”

Snow Going Back Comic Relief v The Artic airs next Monday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
