Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has revealed the Man United winger suffered a hamstring problem before playing the full 120 minutes in Sunday’s FA Cup win over Liverpool.
United beat their rivals in a thrilling clash to book their place in the semi-final with Amad Diallo scoring the winner in the final minute of extra time, the youngster seeing red for removing his shirt.
Garnacho contributed to the spectacular winning goal with an end-to-end counter-attack against bitter rivals the Red Devils.
And it’s even more impressive that he did it after his brother Roberto confirmed his preparation for the match had been hampered by a hamstring problem.
He posted on X: “Garnacho trained two days this week due to a hamstring injury.

‘He’s still here, running for 120 minutes and giving the assist. I’m proud of you BIG BRO.’
Scott McTominay gave United an early lead on the day, but Liverpool hit back through Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah before half-time.
Under pressure, Erik ten Hag’s men offered little response, but substitute Antony managed to equalize against the run of play in the 87th minute.
Liverpool substitute Harvey Elliott restored the Reds’ lead in the 105th minute, but Marcus Rashford restored parity seven minutes later before Diallo caused pandemonium in the stands at the death.
Garnacho has impressed this season on the right of an attacking trio that often included Rashford on the left and Rasmus Hojlund in the middle.
The Madrid-born Argentina international now has seven goals and four assists in all competitions in 38 games, and was considered by many to be the best on the pitch in Sunday’s FA Cup thriller.
