Ireland Baldwin has opened up about her decision to leave Hollywood, admitting it has become a “really dark place” for her.
The former model, 29, left Los Angeles in 2020 and has since lived in Portland, Oregon, with her family.
Speaking to Emily Ratajkowski on her podcast High Low with EmRata last year, Ireland said she “couldn’t handle Hollywood” and was “bowing out of that world.”
She said: ‘I just really couldn’t be in LA anymore.
“It started to take its toll on me, and especially with Covid, it’s really become a dark place.
‘LA can be a beautiful place, but it’s also a pitfall. It’s full of a lot of people who definitely don’t have your best interests at heart.”
Ireland, the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, grew up in the spotlight and felt pressure to “be a star” from her famous parents.
The writer also spoke candidly about the trials and tribulations of the modeling industry.

“Modelling was something that came very easy when I was young, and the fashion industry is a tough job,” she said.
“I’ve had great experiences, I’ve had terrible experiences.
“Unless I could really choose and use that platform for good, I just really didn’t want to be involved anymore.
“It’s kind of like this cat-and-mouse game that I just wasn’t interested in.”
Ireland also tried acting, but soon put an end to its further development.
“I can’t act,” she admitted with a laugh. “It’s not in my blood.”
Ireland is in a relationship with her boyfriend RAC – real name André Allen Anjos – and the pair share one-year-old daughter Holland.
Earlier this week, Ireland was spotted enjoying a holiday reunion with her father Alec in downtown Manhattan in New York City.
Ireland candidly revealed: ‘I just really couldn’t be in LA anymore. It started to take its toll on me, and especially with Covid, it just became a very dark place.”

The Oscar-nominated actor, 66, was seen being hugged as she was joined by her partner, musician RAC, 39, and Holland.
The father-daughter reunion took place four months after a summer holiday in which Ireland brought her daughter to meet her seven half-siblings that Alec shares with wife Hilaria, 40.
In recent years, Alec and Ireland have been on seemingly solid footing.
She has become a parent for the first time as he tries to balance his family, career and legal fallout from the tragic shooting on the set of his film Rust in October 2021.
