An Aldi Australia shopper instantly lost her appetite after a giant chunk of mold fell out of a sauce bottle while she was preparing dinner.
On Monday, June 3, Sidney Bessant was making a Thai green curry and had purchased the ingredients at a budget store earlier that day.
But when the store didn’t have his usual curry paste, he opted for another product he’d never bought before.
The 22-year-old from Sydney felt like she was going to vomit when a stomach-churning chunk of green mold fell into the frying pan.
Sidney Bessant was making a Thai green curry for a quick, healthy meal, but was “disgusted” by what fell out of a bottle of sauce she bought at Aldi Australia. A giant piece of mold fell out when she went to pour the sauce into the pan (pictured right)
‘I’ve never felt so sick! It was so disgusting,’ he told FEMAIL.
“I shop at Aldi often and so does my whole family, but there has never been a problem like that.”
In the middle of the ordeal, Sidney started recording a TikTok video detailing the situation to vent his surprise and displeasure.
She opted to make a quick and easy meal with chicken, coconut cream, broccoli, and green beans.
“There was something that looked a little funny about the sauce… I served it at my dinner and a big piece of mold fell out,” he said while gagging.
‘(Actually) it looks like what my dog regurgitated. It’s all over the lid, all over the edge, it’s like it’s full of mold.
Sidney also shared a close-up of the bottle to reveal that the best-before date is actually July 27, 2025, meaning it shouldn’t have been moldy.
‘Don’t mind me, but I won’t have dinner tonight. “I have never felt so sick in my life,” she declared.
Sidney said he lost his appetite and didn’t eat after seeing the mold. ‘I’ve never felt so sick! It was so disgusting,’ he told FEMAIL.
The video has since been viewed a staggering 446,000 times and other people said they too felt like “vomiting” after seeing the giant piece of mould.
Another person in the comments said it looked “absolutely disgusting.”
‘How did you tell Aldi about this? They should know,” said another.
