Remedy Entertainment has always been one of the best developers of linear story games in the industry, but in recent years the studio has started to offer experiences that are less linear than their previous titles. Control in particular is a game that is much less linear, focusing more on Exploration Alan Wake 2’s upcoming title will look to provide a lot more exploration.
Remedy recently released the first video in its new behind-the-scenes YouTube series, which will take a look at multiple aspects of Alan Wake 2 and although the bulk of the video focuses on the heroine Saga Anderson, the developer also offers some insights into the design of the game itself.
According to game director Kyle Rowley, Alan Wake 2 will contain more open areas, where players will be able to explore freely, while the game will also allow visiting the places in the first part, and at the same time environment designer Ann Lynn Sotas says that many Locations from the original game such as “The Restaurant” will return.
The team at Remedy Entertainment also had to do “a lot of research” in order to make sure they were crafting a fictional Pacific Northwest town with as much attention to detail as possible.
