The former Premier League forward told Match of the Day: ‘From a Manchester United point of view, I think Ole Gunnar Solksjaer deserves the credit for switching teams (after Spurs’ game).
‘After that last performance it had to be changed. They played really well (this weekend) and they absolutely beat Newcastle.
United just kept going and running and running. They never gave up in the Newcastle defense.
‘(So) well done to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after that debacle.’
Shearer revealed that after a difficult few months at the club, the United side needed a refresh
In United’s previous game, they were beaten 6-1 by Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford
United got behind early on from Luke Shaw’s own goal in the second minute after a solid counterattack in Newcastle, but Solskjaer’s side controlled the rest of the game.
Captain Harry Maguire, who was bad against Spurs two weeks ago, equalized a corner in the first half and the Red Devils attacked Newcastle’s goal for the remainder of the game.
They eventually made it to the breakthrough, scoring three runs in the last ten minutes of the game via Bruno Fernandes, who also missed a penalty in the second half, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford.

Shearer chose United midfielders Fernandes and Juan Mata as the main directors of the Northeast victory.
He added: ‘Mata and Fernandes were so smart, they just bagged for Newcastle’s front four.
‘If you give those two the right time, they are going to cause problems and they did.
‘They were too good on the ball, they showed a lot of creativity that Newcastle did not have. Marcus Rashford was excellent too. ‘

Shearer continued to criticize his former side in their defeat to United for barely threatening Manchester United’s goal after taking the lead under favorable circumstances.
The 50-year-old condemned Steve Bruce’s side for their tactical game plan throughout the game.
The former Newcastle forward and manager said: ‘At Newcastle I was really disappointed. It was a bad performance.
The Match of the Day pundit knocked off his former side Newcastle for their uninspired display
‘I thought the setup of taking the pressure (after) they had the goal and they just sat back (meant) they couldn’t get anyone on the ball.
They kept knocking on it for a long time and the ball kept coming towards them. I thought they were really very poor.
“The only one who should get the credit for Newcastle is Karl Darlow, he kept the score low.”
