An Alabama lawmaker killed his colleague-girlfriend before killing himself when the couple’s argument at 2:45 a.m. during their beach getaway escalated.
Kenneth “Kenny” Booth Jr. and his girlfriend Alexis “Lexi” White, 23, were on a trip to Orange Beach when the Cullman County deputy shot his girlfriend multiple times, then killed himself.
The incident, which took place in a common area of the Seaside Beach and Racquet Club, was described by authorities as an apparent “murder-suicide.”
The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is “devastated” and shaken “to the core” after learning of the deaths of two of its employees.
Booth’s mother, Adrean Miller Booth, posted a tribute to her late son on Facebook, saying Booth was “welcome to heaven.”

Booth shot White – his girlfriend – multiple times before turning the gun on himself in what authorities described as a “murder-suicide.”
Booth’s mother, Adrean Miller Booth, posted a tribute to her late son on Facebook, saying Booth had been “welcome to heaven” and defending him against “false and false statements.”
She said her heart was “forever broken” by her son’s death. The Facebook post stated: “Please know that there are MANY false and untrue statements out there and the truth will come out.
“I will issue a statement later when appropriate, but today is not that day.”
Facebook users left comments of support for White on the heartbroken mother’s post.
One user said: “Heaven? You must really be delusional #JusticeforAlexisWhite’
Another commented: “Gurrlll. what about the mother who had her daughter killed?
Ashley Nichole left a comment asking “anything about the young lady he killed?” after Booth’s mother failed to mention her son’s deceased girlfriend in the tribute post.
Booth’s mother’s social media post received backlash, as many people commented in support of his late girlfriend and used the hashtag #JusticeforAlexisWhite.
Booth was in charge of the K9 department of the Alabama Sheriff’s Office.
The police department released a statement regarding White’s death because she was a beloved member of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, where she worked since she was 16 years old.
The “murder-suicide” took place at the Seaside Beach and Racquet Club in Orange Beach, Alabama, where the couple was staying during their beach trip.
White had worked in the office since she was 16 and was beloved by the community.
Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry said, “There are not enough words to express what she and her family mean to me. I am literally heartbroken. I feel like Lexi is one of my own children.
Gentry said, “She was a founding member of our Youth Leadership Academy and was involved in each one thereafter – either as a participant or as a coach.”
White earned a degree in criminal justice from Wallace State Community College before starting work as a dispatcher at the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.
White’s friend, Hope Cochran, was “at a loss for words” when she found out the 23-year-old had been shot multiple times and killed.
The shooting took place at 2:45 a.m. in a common area of the vacation spot.
She said, “I am so grateful to have had the privilege of playing softball with Lexi growing up. It never feels right when a life is taken too young. Cochran posted online asking everyone to pray for White’s family.
White’s obituary described her as “a firecracker” and said her “boldness and determination made up for her small frame.”
News of the beloved dispatcher’s death is even more tragic for her family because White’s brother, Tarrant Jordan White, died three years earlier at the age of 25.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 12 in Cullman, Alabama.
