Former Georgia Bulldogs footballer Akeem Hebron has died suddenly at the age of 34.

The team announced the tragic news on Sunday evening. The cause of death is not known.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a beloved member of the Bulldog family, Akeem Hebron,” the statement read on Twitter.

“His dedication to Georgian football will be remembered. We send our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to the former linebacker, who died suddenly over the weekend, the Bulldogs have confirmed. DailyMail.com has contacted the University of Georgia for comment.

One person wrote: ‘So sad to be taken at such a young age. Condolences to his family. RIP, he will not be forgotten by the Dawg Nation.’
