  • Marc Overmars and Edwin van der Sar enjoyed the famous victory of Ajax at Juventus
  • Both men played for the club and won the Champions League in 1995
  • They are now the director of Ajax and football and chief executive respectively
  • Overmars slipped over the turf in his suit and left van der Sar in hysteria

Ajax legend Marc Overmars showed that there is no better way to celebrate the first semifinal of your club, 22 years than by letting the body glide over the floor – even while wearing a suit.

Overmars, 45, is now the football director of the club and like everyone else involved with Ajax, he was ecstatic after the Dutch club once again closed an extraordinary upset in the Champions League.

The young pioneers of Erik ten Hag followed a striking 4-1 victory over reigning European champion Real Madrid at the Bernabeu last month with a stunning 2-1 win over Italian Giantus giants in Turin.

The result is the first time since 1997 that Ajax has reached the last four, with a team that has both Overmars and teammate Edwin van der Sar.

The duo lifted the trophy in 1995 and both players are now involved behind the scenes in the Amsterdam Arena, with 48-year-old Van der Sar now the club's chief executive.

And both went wild in the presence of frenzied supporters of Ajax at the Allianz Stadium, who replicated similar celebrations after the club's victory in Madrid.

Overmars, dressed in a shirt and tie, took a run before they tried to glide over the pristine turf for the traveling quota.

Van der Sar watched in hysteria when the Ajax fans celebrated their former hero festival.

The Dutch team had to come from behind in Turin after Cristiano Ronaldo had given the hosts the lead.

But the visitors showed a great character to fight back and they balanced the game almost immediately by Donny van der Beek, before Matthijs de Ligt led the winning goal home after 67 minutes.

Overmars and van der Sar played an integral role on the field when Ajax last stunned European competition with a generation of exceptionally young talent.

Louis van Gaal's Ajax boosted Clarence Seedorf, Edgar Davids and Danny Blind when they raised the trophy in 1995 with a 1-0 win over Milan.

They also almost kept the trophy, almost narrowly losing on the side that they defeated last year in Rome a year later.

This year's contingent represents an English side in their semi-final with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City facing the Etihad tonight.

Spurs holds a narrow 1-0 advantage of the first leg thanks to a Son Heung-min attack, but they face a Pep Guardiola side focused on an unprecedented four-fold this season.
