A TikToker shared a series of handwritten notes she found while staying at an Airbnb, leaving many viewers baffled.

Joanna Anderson shared a now-viral video explaining that she was in a “nice house” but was surprised to discover notes outlining additional charges for using basic amenities.

A note on the WiFi router said: “WiFi is free on the first day of your stay, but thereafter you will be charged £10.00 ($12.67 USD) per day per device.”

Another note about washing appliances said: ‘Washing machine will be charged at £5.00 ($6.34 USD) per wash. Without exception.’

There were also notes of similar charges taped to the television and pool table.

Joanna Anderson told viewers in her now-viral video that while she was in a “very nice house,” there were notes indicating additional charges taped to all the basic utilities.

But Anderson revealed that the situation got much worse. Other strange notes were scattered around the house.

One attached to a white leather armchair said: “Don’t sit in this chair, it was my late husband’s favorite.”

Attached to the microwave was “no meat or animal products allowed”, while on the bathroom sink it said: “Please do not drink [a] showering or bathing after 8pm, we are saving water’. Another at the fridge demanded: ‘This is a vegan house, respect it!’

Anderson recorded the call she had with the Airbnb host about the charges after leaving the venue and receiving a bill for $937.73 (£740).

She had been charged for WiFi, use of a washing machine, deep cleaning of floors and carpets, as well as damage to an antique teacup.

While on duty, the host can be heard telling Anderson that he “used the pool table twice and there’s a charge on the table.”

But the guest, surprised, wonders: “I’m curious too: whether or not I used the pool table, how did you know I used the pool table?”

The host quickly told him that “everything was in a different place” and points out that Anderson had also used the washing machine.

In the end, the host tells Anderson that all of the additional fees were listed when he signed an agreement to rent Airbnb and that he should dispute the charges with the company.

The video left many viewers wondering how the host found out about the charges and suspecting that the property was equipped with cameras.

Anderson also recorded the call he had with the Airbnb host about the charges after leaving the venue and receiving a bill for $937.73 (£740) from the company.

One viewer wrote: ‘I feel like there are cameras in that Airbnb.’

While another said: ‘Hidden cameras.’ Call the police and a lawyer. Knowing something was used twice means you are looking.

One viewer questioned the placement of the chair, saying, “Am I the only one wondering why the chair was placed in a public Airbnb and not a private residence if it was so special and sentimental?”

Another also wondered: ‘He said you used the pool table twice; If you place it wrong, how can you tell if it was once or ten times?’

It comes as another TikToker shared their Airbnb horror story, writing: “This is like when they filmed me inside an Airbnb because I fell asleep on the couch instead of the bedroom.” The next day I received a message asking me to please sleep in the bed in the bedroom.’

According to Airbnb’s website, hosts cannot charge additional fees or charges outside of the platform unless expressly authorized by the company.
