Aimee Lou Wood has revealed that producers of White Lotus 3 didn’t like her American accent and asked her to keep her native Manchester accent.
The 29-year-old Sex Education actress revealed she auditioned several times using her normal voice and American accent but in the end producers opted for her Manchester tone.
The star had his breakout role in Netflix’s hit coming-of-age drama and has since starred in films including The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, Seize Them! and Living.
But the actress will now take on a major role in the third season of HBO’s hit series White Lotus.
However, despite the success of the shoot, Aimee revealed that she had a difficult start.

In an interview with Radio Times, the star also revealed that while at drama school she had been advised to tone down her accent, but has since discovered that people love it.
She explained: ‘My character was going to be American and then I did a recording, one with an American accent and one with my own accent. They said, ‘Yeah, we want your own voice’, so my character will be from Manchester!’

She told the magazine: ‘They (RADA) said that Received Pronunciation would be the main accent we needed, so I should know when to tone down my accent, but that hasn’t been the case at all – if anything, people are asking me to tone it up!’
The Bafta-winning actress has been keeping fans updated on her White Lotus filming journey and shared two snaps to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to share that filming had officially wrapped.
In one photo, the tsar posted a blurry close-up with the caption: “Last white day,” followed by a lotus flower emoji.

During the interview with Radio Times, she said: “I felt like I was naked on stage. Afterwards, people were saying it was great and I was thinking, ‘I wasn’t faking it, I was actually screaming and crying and having a breakdown.'”
But the work was worth it and the actress was recognized with another award, this time for ‘Best Buy’ at the What’s On Awards.

White Lotus Resort, before showing the five new cast members walking together.

Three tourists are then seen relaxing on sun loungers by the pool, before the clip cuts to a scene of two boxers fighting.
There’s also a brief glimpse of Rothwell, as she arrives at the resort in a floral dress.
Rothwell played Belinda Lindsey in the first season of The White Lotus. Her character was the spa manager at the Hawaiian resort.
Following the announcement, excited fans took to Twitter, with one writing: “Oh my god I can’t wait!”
“I’m completely hooked on The White Lotus series. It’s like an exciting escapade with the perfect mix of drama, humor and intrigue. I’m so excited for #TheWhiteLotusS3,” another added.
“I’m ready, shit,” someone else added, while someone else wrote: “I can’t wait.”
