The 29-year-old Sex Education actress revealed she auditioned several times using her normal voice and American accent but in the end producers opted for her Manchester tone.

The star had his breakout role in Netflix’s hit coming-of-age drama and has since starred in films including The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, Seize Them! and Living.

But the actress will now take on a major role in the third season of HBO’s hit series White Lotus.

However, despite the success of the shoot, Aimee revealed that she had a difficult start.

She explained: ‘My character was going to be American and then I did a recording, one with an American accent and one with my own accent. They said, ‘Yeah, we want your own voice’, so my character will be from Manchester!’
