A few times a year, Sephora discounts almost its entire inventory, including some of our favorite hair straighteners, blow dryers, and hot brushes. The caveat? You must be one Sephora Beauty Insider, which is free to join, and the percentage off the retail price is based on the membership tier you fall into. Some brands are not included on sale, like MAC and The Ordinary, and there are some restrictions, like how you can only buy one Dyson and one Shark product.

- Insider members: This is the basic level, for which you don’t have to spend any money. From April 9 to 15 you get a 10 percent discount.
- VIB members: This is anyone who spends €350 in a year. From April 9 to 15 you get a 15 percent discount.
- Rouge members: If you spend at least $1,000 per year, you’ll get a 20 percent discount from April 5 to April 15. This means you also get first access to the sale.

Dyson has mastered air manipulation, and WIRED writer Brenda Stolyar loved the Airstrait (8/10, WIRED Recommends) and said it cut the time she spent on her hair routine in half. Instead of hotplates, the Airstrait uses airflow to dry and straighten hair in one go. You can close the plates and just use it as a blow dryer, but it excels in its straightening properties. You may have to play with it to see if it works best on wet or damp hair, depending on your hair type. It is also available in a very nice version limited edition rose gold color.
T3 makes great hair tools, and this hair straightener is one of them. It uses what T3 calls HeatID technology to set the temperature based on hair texture, length and whether it is colored. Refresh mode allows you to update already straightened hair at a lower temperature based on the previous settings. It’s a small but powerful feature.
I’ve been testing this hair straightener over the past few weeks and it has become one of my favorite hair straighteners. It’s a classic that I’ve somehow never tried before, but it straightens my curls quickly. There are five heat settings, but the buttons are right where my hands want to rest, so I often accidentally change the temperature.
You’ll either love or hate this iron from popular tool brand GHD. There is no heat control, so it is always 365 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s great for some hair types—it straightened a writer’s hair in one stroke—and prevents people from unnecessarily frying their locks, but coarser or curlier hair can be a struggle.
Like Dyson’s Airstrait, the GHD Duet uses air to dry and smooth hair, and some hair types get pin-straight hairstyles from this step. But if you need more help straightening it, you should still turn on the heating plates once your hair is completely dry. That means it may take a little longer than with the Dyson, but it also means you don’t need two tools.

WIRED contributor Victoria Woollaston-Webber says this is one of the best dryers she’s tried, quickly leaving her hair dry and shiny without burning her scalp. But the buttons are located exactly where you want your hand, so you may find yourself changing the settings as you style.
The Dyson Supersonic is a solid hairdryer with accessories such as a wide-tooth comb and a looser hairdryer. It can even shorten your drying time. But no one needs to spend $400 on a dryer unless you really don’t want to miss the money. Like the Airstrait, it is also available in a beautiful pink color.

The version for curly and frizzy hair is discounted at the same price. This model took a little longer to dry my hair than the brand HyperAir, but it worked and takes up less space. The RapidGloss Finisher attachment did the impossible and even tamed some of my frizz.
We haven’t tested this dryer, but it’s included here because we generally love and trust T3 tools. I tried the Aireluxe, which was super light and worked well, but didn’t have a diffuser. This one looks almost identical, but is more compact and has the diffuser I missed, plus other attachments. If you need something light, it might be worth a try.

T3’s Switch Kit tops the list of best curling irons. It is one handle with three barrels for achieving different styles. This comes with half-inch and 1.25-inch wands and a 1.5-inch clip barrel. If you don’t need something as small as half an inch, then the Wave Trio exchanges it for a 1 inch wand.
We have cheaper wand recommendations, but we like the SinglePass because the tapered barrel goes from 0.75 inches to 1.3 inches. It gives long hair beautiful beach waves and allows you to create smaller curls around your face.
If you are a GHD fan, you will like this curling iron with a 1 inch barrel that is suitable for short and long hair. It uses a clamp, which takes some getting used to if you mainly use wands, but our writer suggests trying it out with it turned off so you can get used to the motion. It also has a cool tip that’s larger than others we’ve tried, so you can operate the tool safely without scorching your fingers.
Hair dryer brush and multi-tool offers
If you’ve had your eye on the Dyson Airwrap but can’t spend the money, you simply don’t have to. Shark’s FlexStyle (9/10, WIRED recommended) is virtually identical, allowing you to dry, blow-dry or curl your hair. The Airwrap barrels tightened the hair a little better, but for the money saved it was manageable. The curly and winding hair bundle comes with a diffuser.
Do you want to stick with Dyson instead of the Shark? This set comes with the new cylinder that can create curls in both directions instead of requiring two; it is the larger one for longer hair. It also has other curling tools like a comb and diffuser. There are other bundles and accessories available, including the long barrel without the curled tool and a fixed entry rose gold And blue and orange.
I have too much hair to figure out how to use a blow dryer brush efficiently, but people love it. This one comes from a brand we like and has both a paddle brush and a round brush attachment for whatever style you’re trying to achieve.
This hot brush made our list of the best curling irons because while it’s meant to lift your roots for volume, it also created waves and tight curls effortlessly. As with other GHD products, the only setting is 365 degrees.
You’ve probably seen Revlon’s hair dryer brush all over social media. The latest version is great for a fraction of this price, but our tester found the Double Shot gave her smoother, straighter hair. It just took a little more work given the smaller airflow openings.
