After the Fall: PS VR co-op shooter PvP Tundradome detailed
Hello everyone! TamTu from the Vertigo Games Community Team here! For After the Fall, we’re so close to launch, SO CLOSE! It’s really exciting to be able to tell you more about the game and we can’t wait to see you in-game next week on December 9, so let’s see what this means for PlayStation VR players.
PvP deep dive
In addition to the 4-player co-op PvE content that is at the heart of After the Fall, we recently unveiled the “Tundradome” arena as an additional activity where players can battle it out in 4v4 Team Deathmatch PVP! We know from experience that playing with friends isn’t always easy (I’m a pretty tough casual raider), so having the option to vent any lingering frustrations is exactly what the Tundradome offers.
Welcome to the Tundradome
Formerly part of combat training, the discovery that boosters can revive people and extend their lives has led to a darker form of entertainment.
Whether it’s to allay frustration or ease tensions between Harvest Runners, they’re invited to sharpen their skills against opponents not as predictable as the Snowbreed. If they dare, Runners can settle debates with live ammunition in the Tundradome. Harvest runners from all over Los Angeles gather here to test their skills and for the survivors, combatants and non-combatants, these neo gladiator fights are the contact sport of this era.
Broadcast to the various hubs, it’s flavored with spectacle, and it’s a chance for Harvest Runners to become legends of the arena.
How it works
At launch, After the Fall will feature 2 Tundradome arenas for fast-paced player-vs-player battles in Team Deathmatch. You can jump into a lobby through the social hub’s recruiting machines, either solo, where you become matchmade with other players, or enter with a ready-made squad of 4 to compete against another team.
Players have complete freedom of choice as to how they want to fill an 8-player lobby, whether it’s just friends or random players running around in our 32-player social hub. You can also matchmake against Harvest Runners on other supported platforms via crossplay!
Players are stripped of their gear and spawn every match with the basic Service Pistol. It is then up to you to find other weapons on the map before your opponent does, to gain the advantage. Whichever team reaches the elimination target (or has the most eliminations before time runs out) wins the match!
Harvest runners aren’t the only thing you’ll run into; Snowbreed will occasionally spawn on the cards too, so keep your head on a spin.
The Tundradome will be expanded with more modes and maps after launch, and we hope you’ll enjoy jumping into this mode in After the Fall for a change of pace. Your feedback will be incredibly valuable to us in shaping the future of PVP in this game.
So enough about taking out other players, let’s take a look at how After the Fall controls on PlayStation VR to take out your enemies of both the living and undead species!
On PlayStation we support the PS VR Aim controller, DualShock 4 controller and dual PlayStation Move controllers! We wanted to make sure the game is as accessible as possible and supports everyone’s favorite playstyle. View the control schemes:
After launch, we will further adjust the controls based on your feedback
Looking to the future
Future updates to After the Fall will certainly cover PlayStation 5 in one form or another, but it’s too early for us to share about that at this point. As we prepare for the December 9 launch, we’re still working hard to make the current release as smooth as possible. We see your enthusiasm for the title and we can’t wait to face the frozen apocalypse with you next week.
Until then… stay frosty!
