He’s been busy filming the highly anticipated third series of After Life for the past month.
And Ricky Gervais seemed to be having a good time throwing tomatoes at a stock co-star while filming fête scenes for the fictional village of Tambury, where his show is set, in Buckinghamshire on Wednesday.
The 59-year-old comedian, who plays grieving husband Tony Johnson on the show, was a relaxed figure for the shoot and was also seen crawling behind the camera while not practicing his aim.

Ricky wore a casual blue T-shirt and jeans for the fete shoot, which he fashioned with black sneakers and sunglasses.
The star was joined by some smiling extras as he took to the stock and launched a few tomatoes at the hapless co-star.
Elsewhere during the shoot, he was seen directing the cast and laughing with the crew in between takes.
Also spotted in Buckinghamshire was actress Diane Morgan, who plays Kath on the show.

She cut a stylish figure in a white blazer and black pencil skirt and a pair of nude kitten heels.
Ricky, who stars in and writes about After Life, confirmed that filming for season three had started last month, with one London shoot even being accidentally shot down by Richard Madeley showing up in the same pub that used the production.
Since its release, After Life fans have been gushing about the second season, which continues to follow the story of grieving local newspaper journalist Tony – played by Ricky – as he begins to feel excited about his adoring support network.

Set in the small fictional town of Tambury, the show explores Tony’s struggle with immense grief for his wife. In the plot, Tony tries to become a better friend to the people around him – all of whom are struggling with their own problems.
In the latest series, things took off as the threat of the local newspaper’s closure became high – causing everyone to panic at the prospect of unemployment. The characters turn to Am-Dram as a way to brighten the mind – with hilarious results.
In addition to Ricky, the cast includes Penelope Wilton, Ashley Jensen, Bill Ward, Tom Basden, Joe Wilkinson, Kerry Godliman, Roisin Conaty and Diane Morgan.
Last year, the funny man discussed the difficulties he faced writing the show amidst the resounding success of the second series.

Speak against Radio timesthe TV and movie star admitted that after his iconic comedies The Office and Extras, he struggled to bring After Life to life due to the complexity of the story, which follows a widower’s grief.
After rising to fame in 2001 with the mockumentary The Office, which Ricky wrote and starred as the hapless and fame-hungry David Brent, he enjoyed massive success in 2005 with the cameo-laden celebrity Extras.
However, Ricky admitted that he struggled most with After Life, saying, “ The ‘situation’ of it is huge. At The Office it was a group of people in one place …
‘I worked in an office for 10 years, I know [that]… and almost the funny thing about The Office was that nothing happens, so that was pretty easy …
And also Brent was such a strong central character, he was a man desperate to be famous and discovered, so once you know that, it’s clear.
