After Kylian Mbappe and Graeme Souness were released from jail, Graeme Souness was freed by Kylian Mbappe to go to France.

“They HAVE to be better than that!” Graeme Souness is in France after Kylian Mbappe busts them out of jail against Denmark, saying Les Bleus are ‘not very convincing’ – as fans claim the team is ‘SHOCKING’ without their star striker

Graeme Souness insisted France were ‘not very convincing’ in their 2-1 victory over Denmark on Saturday, despite confirming their place in the last 16 of the World Cup with victory.

A brace from Kylian Mbappe helped Didier Deschamps’ side claim their second win in as many games in Qatar, but they had to work for the three points after being pinned down by their opponents.

Speaking on ITV, Souness criticized the defending champion’s performance but admitted that France ‘doesn’t have to be brilliant to win things’ because of Mbappé’s brilliance.

“They have to be better than that,” Souness began. “If you have an absolute goalscorer he [Mbappe] that’s obvious, and the way they play where they attract teams, if you have someone who can score goals for fun, you don’t have to be a brilliant team to win things.

“For me they weren’t very convincing all over the pitch tonight, but with a real striker like him scoring for fun, they’re dangerous.”

Mbappe has already matched Lionel Messi’s seven-goal tally in World Cups and has now scored three goals in two games in Qatar.

With 31 goals in 60 games, including 14 in his last 12 games, he is tied with Zinedine Zidane in France’s all-time goalscoring list.

Fans are concerned about the 23-year-old carrying France with him, with several social media users suggesting his quality papers about the cracks in their roster.

One Twitter user said: ‘Mbappé carries France, they are shocking without him’, while another added: ‘If Mbappé takes France to another World Cup with Adrien Rabiot in midfield then it’s time to give him all the individual accolades for the next four years.’

A third user wrote: ‘Mbappé carries France in the same way he has worn Messi in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.’

Les Blues have yet to play Tunisia in their final Group D game, but look poised to win the group and meet the Group C runners-up in the last 16 before potentially playing England in the quarter-finals.
