ABC and The Bachelor are thoroughly looking for a successor for presenter Chris Harrison after his departure from the franchise after 19 years

ABC and The Bachelor will take the time to choose a successor to Chris Harrison, in the wake of his retirement from the reality romance franchise after 19 years as host.

Sources told Variety that the network is not expected to name the new regular host until at least this fall, when the next season of The Bachelor begins production for its January 2022 premiere.

The longtime host of all three Bachelor Nation shows – The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise, 49, left the reality novel series for good on Tuesday.

His departure came about four months after a race-related controversy in which he suggested “a little understanding” towards a contestant who attended a plantation-themed party in 2018.

Harrison had initially stepped back in the wake of the racial insensitivity scandal, which erupted after a February Extra interview with The Bachelorette alumnus Rachel Lindsay about Rachael Kirkconnell.

Following the news that Harrison was not returning, producers have received a flood of calls from agents seeking to secure the role for their customers, according to the outlet.

The network is looking at a myriad of options, both in the Bachelor Nation group and beyond, the outlet reported, and none have emerged as the top contender.
