Suspicious circumstances when a man throws himself from the balcony of his apartment building, sustaining possible spinal injuries

A man has suffered possible spinal injuries after falling from the balcony of an apartment building following an alleged fight with another man.
The 47-year-old man was rushed to a Darwin hospital for surgery before being airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for further treatment.
Witnesses told police, who were called to the building in Coconut Grove in western Darwin around 5pm on Saturday, that there was an alleged altercation between two men before they he saw the man throw himself from the balcony of the second floor unit.

“There has been an (alleged) altercation with another male, a fight between two people in a room,” said NT Police Sgt. Major Meacham King, reports the NT News.
‘An edged weapon was (supposedly) produced. As a result, a man fell from the balcony and landed on the ground.
“Investigations continue into whether he fell or was thrown.”
The man who fell is being treated for injuries to his leg, lower abdomen and possible spinal injuries.
A 27-year-old man known to the victim was arrested by police as he was returning to the unit block at around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
He appeared in Darwin Local Court on Monday charged with assault.
Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to contact them.
