Following a search for two fishermen swept off rocks in Sydney's south, police pulled two bodies from the water on Monday afternoon.

Two men have died after they were reportedly swept off rocks in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.

NSW Police were called to Cape Solander Dr, Kurnell, following reports that two people had been swept into the ocean at 2.45pm on Monday.

It is understood the men were fishing off rocks.

A search operation was launched with assistance from Marine Area Command, Surf Life Savers and Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

NSW Police confirmed the two men were pulled from the water a short time later.

Officers performed CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics took over.

Police and paramedics attempted to revive the men but were unsuccessful.
