The Tigers said scans showed Martin suffered the painful injury on Friday night during his team’s 20-point win over Brisbane.

Martin, 30, collapsed to the ground in agony after an on-field collision with Lions enforcer Mitch Robinson in the third quarter.

The three-time premiership winner played no further role in the Gold Coast contest.

Richmond club doctor Greg Hickey confirmed that Martin is expected to remain in hospital until at least Monday.

‘Dustin spent one night in the hospital (on the Gold Coast) for observation and was seen by a urologist this morning. He feels good and remains stable,” he said.

“Given the delicate nature of the injury and recovery timeline, he will not play again this season.”

Tigers football boss Tim Livingstone added that the club was “incredibly disappointed” with the news, but the focus was on Martin’s well-being.

Martin made his AFL debut in 2010 and quickly established himself as one of the game’s elite talents.

In addition to his three flags with the Tigers in recent years, Martin also stole three Norm Smith medals, awarded to the best player in the AFL grand final.

The notable award confirmed his reputation as a big game player and icon status among some Tigers supporters.

Aside from an impressive Melbourne property portfolio, he is said to be in a relationship with Australian swimsuit model Jessica Gomes.

Martin’s hard parties also attracted a legion of fans.

In 2019, 65 days passed before Martin finally decided to collect his vehicle from the MCG members’ car park.

His car has been gathering dust from the day of the AFL grand final as Martin celebrated another title abroad.

While partying abroad, Martin spent time with tennis star Serena Williams and her multi-millionaire husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, in the Maldives.

He was also spotted in Las Vegas, accompanied by fellow footy party animal, retired Collingwood Great Dane Swan.

Martin’s father Shane was deported from Australia in 2016 for character reasons after the former president of the Rebel outlaw biker gang was convicted of serious crimes, including aggravated assault and drug trafficking.

Despite his old man now living permanently in New Zealand, father and son remain close.
