The wife of AFL star Jeremy Finlayson has spoken about the latest developments in his battle with cancer following his initial diagnosis when he was just 25.

On Monday, social media influencer Kellie Finlayson continued to document her complex journey on Instagram, which has made her a source of inspiration.

‘Two years ago today I woke up in the ICU after hours on the operating table,’ She published.

‘Today I have already completed a Work Program, I have had a massage and now I am sitting in the physiotherapist’s waiting room for a problem that has nothing to do with… (so) wild.

“I’m also recovering from a cold (what an immune system) and just stopped by Scanxiety for this month’s checkup.”

Kellie, 28, has battled bowel and lung cancer after she developed it in November 2021 following the birth of her daughter, Sophia.

Following the news that her initial stage 3 diagnosis had been changed to stage 4, surgeries, chemotherapy and other treatments were performed.

In January of this year, Kellie began another six-month round of chemotherapy, but her husband revealed that he has already stopped it.

The soccer star said his wife has abandoned her chemotherapy and radiation treatments and has now placed her trust in alternative medicine.

Kellie has previously said that both chemotherapy and alternative therapies have worked to slow the spread of her cancer, which “100 per cent” robbed her of her first year of motherhood with Sophia.

“I’ve entered early menopause. I don’t know if I’ll be able to recover from it,” she said in March last year.

‘Honestly, that was my biggest struggle, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to give Sophia siblings, which is very difficult. We had always planned to have a big family.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted. It was the hardest pill to swallow of all the ones I’ve taken in the last 18 months.”

Port Adelaide star Finlayson says the turmoil of recent years has taken its toll and affected his football career.

“I’ve tried to keep a good face despite everything,” he said.

“I just see how strong Kellie is and I try to be her support and put a smile on her face on the football field for her and Soph.”

Kellie has continued to be a beacon of positivity throughout her treatment.

She is determined to enjoy the most of her remaining life and looks forward to seeing as many milestones as possible in her daughter Sophia’s development.

“As long as it (the cancer) remains under control, I feel I have the potential to live a long time. I could see Sophia’s 21st birthday!” she told News Corp.

“I look forward to seeing her on her first day of school. That’s still years away, but it’s more than I expected when I first heard the diagnosis.”
