AFL nationwide draft 2022 LIVE updates: Ashcroft, Cadman, Wardlaw, Sheezel and Tsatas anticipated to go early

Good evening everyone and welcome to our continuing coverage of the first round of the 2022 AFL national draft.

As has been the case since 2018 (barring 2020 interrupted by COVID), the national draft will take place over two nights this year.

The first 20 players will be selected tonight, and then the second round onwards will take place tomorrow night.

Rookie and preseason drafts are scheduled for Wednesday.

Will Ashcroft, Aaron Cadman, George Wardlaw, Harry Sheezel and Elijah Tsatas are expected to make up the top five this year.

But having long been touted as the No. 1 pick, Ashcroft could drop to two with late rumors suggesting GWS will not make an offer for the Brisbane Lions father-and-son prospect.

How will everything turn out? We won’t have to wait long to find out. The draft is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
