AFL great Brendan Fevola has revealed he lost a whopping 14.5kg in just one month without doing any exercise.

“I haven’t been to the gym in 13 years,” Brendan told the publication.

“After I retired, I just didn’t see the point because I had no reason to stay fit.”

Brendan added that when he stopped training, the calories he was consuming continued to “pile on.”

“Eating as much as I used to was fine when I was playing football, because I was burning off a lot of my weight by exercising. But when I started not exercising as much, it all added up.”

After realizing he needed to make a lifestyle change, Brendan lost a whopping 30 kilograms in the past 12 months, including an impressive 14.5 kilograms in the last month on the keto diet.

Brendan said the early hours of working morning radio have caused him to eat more carbohydrate-rich foods.

“The breakfast hours I work make me tired at the most inopportune times, and before I was just constantly eating carbs and not getting the good stuff to keep me awake,” he said.

“I don’t want to put all the blame on breakfast time, because you can eat well at that time, but it all depends on the decisions you make.”

She overhauled her diet with a 30-day Keto Australia challenge.

The ketogenic diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that aims to put the body into a state of ketosis where it burns fat for fuel, helping to induce weight loss.

Brendan spoke about his transformation on Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick breakfast show last month.

“I’m on another diet. I’ve been on it for two weeks and I feel great. I’ve lost about nine kilos because I’m on the ketogenic diet, which is perfect for me,” she began.

“It doesn’t contain carbs or sugar. I don’t like sugar very much, so I don’t eat a lot of chocolate.”

Brendan added that he was enjoying trying new foods as part of his diet and said he was already noticing some amazing and unexpected benefits.

‘I’m going to eat cauliflower rice, cauliflower puree with something resembling meat. I’m going to eat salmon, fish, chicken. The food is really delicious, it’s everything I eat but without the carbs.

‘I literally walk down the street now and people say, ‘Is that Fev?’ because I’m fading. I weighed 128kg last year, which is a lot. When I’m done with this, I’ll be below my playing weight at Carlton. I’ll be around the same weight.’

Brendan previously revealed he thought he was going to die as he struggled to lose 12kg in nine days as part of his contract with weight loss gurus Jenny Craig.

He became an ambassador for Jenny Craig in 2017 and, following news that the weight loss company had gone bankrupt, he revealed what he needed to do to meet his contractual obligations.

“They paid me a lot of money, but during the first six months I had to lose a lot of weight,” he said on the radio.

“And then for the next year you had to stay within two kilos, you were weighed every month and that was without food, you had to do it yourself.”

Brendan said the early hours of working on morning radio had caused him to eat more high-carb foods, which he has since eliminated.
