The former Geelong star, 40, will also be in front of the microphone at the Melbourne station for Thursday Night Footy and Friday Night Footy.

But in a surprising new interview, the football legend revealed his favorite sport – and his top choice could surprise loyal AFL fans.

“I’m a tragic cricket,” Jimmy said. 3AW breakfast last month.

During the chat with presenters Ross Stevenson and Russel Howcroft, the 2007 Brownlow medalist continued to gush about “the gentleman’s game”.

‘I watch test series that don’t involve Australia. I was enthralled by the New Zealand and India Test series… I’m just sick of the game.’

Elsewhere in the chat, Jimmy surprised listeners again when he said that if he continued his sporting career, Aussie Rules would be a non-starter.

‘If I had my moment again, I think it would be golf (as a career).

‘It’s the game we all want to play: it seems very low impact and there’s a lot of money. And if we could all master the game of golf, we would all be very happy.”

Jimmy, who played a whopping 305 games for the Geelong Football Club between 2002 and 2016, takes on his new role after presenting 3AW’s AFL Sunday show in 2023.

Last month he told listeners that he would start his new gig in February.

Jimmy shares his two children with Henne founder Nadia Bartel.

Meanwhile, the sports star is now dating Amelia Shepperd and the couple have since welcomed a son together.

The announcement of their son came two years after Nadia confirmed her split from Jimmy in August 2019 after five years of marriage.

Nadia and Jimmy married in February 2014 in a lavish ceremony on the Bellarine Peninsula, before welcoming two children together.

Nadia and Jimmy met in 2008 while attending the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix. The former Geelong Cats player proposed four years later in Mexico.

They share custody of two children: Aston, nine, and Henley, six.

“I don’t think so,” he laughed.

“You know when you’ve done that you think, ‘I don’t know if I would do that again.'”
