Adrian Dunbar wants to return to Line Of Duty before he gets old.

The actor, 65, played Ted Hastings in the BBC police drama which last aired in 2021 after almost a decade on air, but has now admitted that he and all his co-stars want to return for a seventh season.

He said The times: ‘We all want him to come back. It’s fitting that today is co-stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compton’s birthday because I really don’t want them to grow old.

‘I also don’t want to get old because we don’t want to go back when we are in a wheelchair.

Just a few days ago, Adrian’s co-star Vicky clumsily dodged questions about another Line Of Duty series while appearing on This Morning.

The actress, 42, played Detective Inspector Kate Fleming in the BBC series written by Jed Mercurio which was very popular with viewers.

And when it appeared on the daytime TV show, hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley were eager to find out if the show would ever return.

Ben said: “There will always be rumors and expectations, does everyone agree that they will be ready and prepared for when Jed recovers?”

But Vicky then replied: ‘There will always be rumours. I mean look. We’ve all said we love the show and we’d love to come back, obviously, but there’s nothing to talk about, so it’s disappointing in terms of there being no news.

Cat then joked: ‘Well, isn’t there any good news? Because it’s definitely not a no…’.

Vicky then started to smile and grabbed a cushion to cover herself as she added: ‘I’m going to put this on my face…’, as Ben and Cat burst out laughing.

Following the sixth Line Of Duty series, fans across the country were left “furious” as the exciting series finale came to an end and the mysterious antagonist “H” was finally unmasked.

Seasoned fans flocked to social media to share their frustrations when officers from police anti-corruption unit AC-12 uncovered the identity of the elusive “fourth man”, who had been in cahoots with the organized crime group ( OCG), was none other than DSU Ian Buckells.

He saw the words “furious,” “disappointing” and “disappointing” trending on social media after the show.

And the disbelief that it could be him was compounded by the way he was only caught because of his repeated misspellings of the word “definitely” – hardly the blunder of a hardened criminal mastermind.
