A cat adorably “barked” at a family’s new kitten after learning the trick growing up with dogs.

After a nervous look that lasted several seconds and forced the little boy to retreat frightened into a corner, the two-year-old cat jumped slightly and barked at the newcomer.
The little one didn’t back down and continued to stare at his new brother, only for the older cat to bark at him again before curling up in his litter box.

The Alabama family decided that Waffles would give Asher a younger pet to play with and give their 16-year-old cat, Whitaker, a chance to relax.
“The video I posted is one of the first times Asher and Waffles were able to get close to each other without either of us sitting on the floor with them supervising,” Katie told Newsweek.

Katie said she had never heard Asher bark before, but “it made us laugh so hard.”
“We thought it was too cute and funny not to share,” she told the outlet.
Don’t worry, Asher certainly grew fond of Waffles, and days later the pair were seen “playing, snuggling and grooming each other,” the outlet added.

In an update, Katie shared a video of how Asher and Waffles were getting along “100 percent,” showing the two cats cuddling up to each other and playing together.
Several TikTok users commented, saying they had also heard a cat barking and found it too funny to watch.
“Why is it a full-body bark?” one user questioned.
“Right? I think he was practicing vaulting, too,” the cat’s owner, Katie, replied.
“The kitten says, ‘I know I’m new to this, but I’m not sure if this is right…'” wrote another user.
Another joked that the cat was simply acquainting the newcomer, saying: ‘Cat – this is how we welcome newcomers.’
One user said the two-year-old feline was simply “bilingual” after learning the language of his other siblings.
In an update, Katie shared a video of how Asher and Waffles were “100 percent” getting along, showing the two cats cuddling up to each other and playing together.
