An adorable bear cub found in the wilderness without its mother by a Turkish shelter in Hakkari prepares to be moved to a new home.

The baby bear, named ‘Hakvan’, was pictured slurping from a milk bottle after his rescue, but he is now being prepared for a move to a bear sanctuary in Bursa after being cared for in Hakkari.

After being separated from his mother in Hakkari, Turkish rescuers brought the bear cub to Van for treatment on April 19. They fed Hakvan every three hours and kept him under surveillance.

Hakvan was given a mixture of milk, antibiotics and honey to treat him when he got lost in the area – even saying the bear had become the mascot of the 14th Regional Directorate for Conservation and National Parks.

Professor Lokman Aslan, the center’s director, told reporters: We take care of the bear cub like a baby. We have taken care of it from the starter food to the current state.

‘Now the stage of eating solid foods has passed. It is able to eat independently. It is a preschool for mammals up to a certain stage. He completed the nursery and special care, that is, he became a kindergarten.

‘After that he has to live on private property. That is why we have reported the necessary reports to the 14th Regional Directorate for Nature Conservation and National Parks. He will continue his life from now on in the bear sanctuary in Bursa.

Now that he is eating solid foods, he is being prepared for his move.

Professor Aslan said they recently treated two adult bears that had been injured.

The bear cub, taken for walks in the central garden at certain times of the day, will be delivered to the bear sanctuary at Ovakorusu Celal Acar Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Bursa, when it enters the solid diet of its development.
