Adam Sandler’s London antics: from surprising basketball games to lounging on the steps of the Claridge Hotel and cheering on Chelsea

He’s been all over London this week, surprising his fans with his pop-ups in surprise locations.

Adam Sandler definitely seems to be a fan of the capital and when he’s not filming his next projects, the actor, 57, prefers to keep a low profile and isn’t afraid to get stuck in with the locals.

On Wednesday he left fans speechless by joining a basketball game. at the South West London court on Clapham Common.

The Murder Mystery star is known for his love of American sports and previously appeared in the basketball film Hustle (2022).

Keeping it casual, Adam opted for a relaxed look for the day as he wore a light blue hoodie and a pair of red sweatpants.

He stunned fans on Wednesday when he joined a basketball game at the south-west London court in Clapham Common.

A clip of the actor playing was shared on social media with one X user writing: “Just walked past Adam Sandler playing basketball in Clapham.”

It’s not the first time the Grown Ups star has been seen caught in a game, after she left fans horrified while playing at Kensington Leisure Center last month.

The star appeared to be stuck in the game in a clip shared on TikTok as players put him through his paces.

Adam, noticeably shorter than his teammates, also seemed to have forgotten his sports gear as he ran in a Hawaiian-print summer T-shirt.

She completed the look with gray jogging pants and her burgundy Hoka sneakers while enjoying the game.

Meanwhile, Adam seemed a little less energetic on Tuesday. as he stopped to rest in the middle of Mayfair.

Fans were surprised to see him taking a seat outside the door of the five-star Claridge’s hotel as he enjoyed a moment to himself while browsing his phone.

Adam opted for a sporty outfit for the day, as he wore a pair of bright blue shorts and a beige North Face puffer coat as he lounged in the doorway.

Basketball isn’t the only sport Adam is a fan of, after he was also spotted at Stamford Bridge, cheering on Chelsea against Newcastle last month (along with his wife Jackie).

The actor stood up at one point when both teams were tied (1-1) at halftime.

She paired the sports shorts with eye-catching red sneakers with yellow laces, while her bright purple hoodie peeked out from under her coat.

Basketball isn’t the only sport Adam is a fan of, after he was also spotted at Stamford Bridge, cheering on Chelsea against Newcastle last month.

It’s no secret that Hollywood’s highest-paid actor is a Blues fan, having once attended a west London derby between Chelsea and Fulham around 15 years ago, according to Tribal football.

He even remembered how spontaneous it was to go to the game, which ended up being Chelsea’s victory, at the time.

He told local London radio: “My friend opened the newspaper and saw an advert for the game. He said: ‘Do you want to go to a football match?’ I said: ‘Yes, that’s a great idea, I’ve never been.’ in one”.

“So we all went there and they were very friendly, we were at Fulham vs Chelsea and it was in an old style venue. [Craven Cottage]. We sat in the Chelsea section and the tunes were playing!

The star is also often seen with his wife Jackie, 49, and daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, while out and about in the capital.

The couple met on the set of 1999’s Big Daddy and have been together ever since.
