Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine is suing the car salesman who sold him a 1971 Maserati, claiming the vintage car isn’t the real deal.

Levine filed suit in the US District Court for the Central District of California over the $950,000 settlement, in which the singer traded two of his classic Ferraris for the Maserati in 2020.

The lawsuit alleges that classic car dealer Rick Cole or those who work with him falsified documents related to the vehicle and engine authentication marks.

The Adam Levine Living Trust said in the lawsuit that the ‘Payphone’ singer believed the Maserati Ghibli 4.9 Liter Spyder was one of 25 or more ever made.

Levine is now suing to undo the deal with Cole or receive compensation to fix the situation.

The lawsuit charges Cole with negligent misrepresentation, intentional misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, and breach of contract.

“The identity of the vehicle is, at the very least, in serious doubt,” the lawsuit states.

Lawyers say the singer is “not in the classic car business at all” and trusted the car salesman when he said the car was authentic.

Later, Levine allegedly discovered that the vehicle had been withdrawn from auction five years prior to the deal out of fears that it might not have been real.

Levine’s lawyers say the car is not the real Ghibli Spyder and that Cole or one of his associates falsely reported that the car, designated ‘#1241’, was real.

Cole claimed to have found a genuine Maserati Ghibli 4.9-litre Spyder which he described as “just as good” as a genuine Maserati Ghibli 4.9-litre Spyder with a clear and indisputable identity that a Trust representative had seen and driven in Monterey one year. or so before, and that was valued at more than $1 million,” the lawsuit says.

The car dealer, who claims to have 50 years of experience in the industry, also displays a photo of himself with Levine along with a photo of a Ferrari 275.

In 2020, the singer’s trust agreed to trade a 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 and a 1968 Ferrari 365 GTC for the 1971 Maserati plus $100,000.

The lawsuit states that Cole suggested this deal.

Cole, during the sale, also presented documentation signed by a Maserati expert, stating that the car was real.

However, that paperwork was not for the vehicle Levine purchased, but for the actual Maserati 1241.

The lawyers also allege that Cole discouraged the Levine trust from selling the car, which they believe is because the dealer “obviously feared that if the trust did market the vehicle, it would eventually learn the truth about its inauthenticity and the corresponding decrease in value.” the market value”.

DailyMail.com contacted Cole but did not hear back at the time of publication.
