Dead by Daylight voice actress Zoey Alexandria has died from a rare form of brain inflammation.
The 29-year-old, who also went by the name Zoey Wendorf, died on April 30 from pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome (PANDAS), a form of encephalitis that is rare in adults.
Alexandria, best known for voicing The Unknown on Dead by Daylight, also suffered from an immunoglobulin G deficiency and chronic strep infections that made her “extra vulnerable,” according to a GoFundMe set up to pay the bills.
Due to his medical conditions, he was unable to work and established the fundraising page in March 2022, which to date had raised $9,299, just shy of his goal of $10,000.
According to Demeros Funeral and Cremation Services in Chicago, Illinois, she is survived by her “spouse, family and many friends,” and will have a private service.
Fans of his work offered their condolences in his online obituary.

As beloved as the game Dead by Daylight is, Alexandria was caught in a transphobia dispute when the game first came out.

‘We welcomed him into our world and his talent shone through his performance. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”

The character he voiced, The Unknown, is a creature with twisted body parts who carries the corpses of his victims and uses their voice.
According to Niche Gamer, it was intended to depict “strange human-shaped figures and monsters seen in analog horror like The Mandela Catalog, where creatures called Alters terrorize their victims.”
While the creature’s characteristics and voices change depending on what happens in the game, The Unknown’s overall form remains male.
Alexandria, who is trans, accused Behavior Interactive, the producers of Dead by Daylight, of being transphobic, claiming they had tricked her into expressing a “stereotype.”
“At the time I was voicing the character I was told that there was no model and that the creature was supposed to be amorphous. They didn’t have any model designs before I recorded my lines.
“So I guess the design team took my medical history and my ability to use multiple voices as an opportunity to create character models that encapsulate my medical history as trans and capitalize on the attention to the transphobic community.
“I was tricked into expressing a stereotype. Since yesterday, thousands of people have virally harassed me for being trans.
