Actor Amir El-Masry has been announced to play young billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed in the next series of The Crown.
The British-Egyptian actor stars alongside Dominic West as Prince Charles and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana.
Acting legend Imelda Staunton takes over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from Olivia Colman, while Lesley Manville plays Princess Margaret.
El-Masry, 31, wrote on Instagram: “I am honored and beyond grateful to the Crown team for having me on board for season 5 of the series.”

El-Masry plays the ex-owner of Harrods whom Diana befriended when she became close to his son Dodi. Variety†
He will play the younger version of the billionaire in flashback scenes after it was announced that actor Salim Daw would play the older Al-Fayed.
Mohamed Al-Fayed, who owned the luxury department store for 25 years, sold it in 2010 for an estimated £1.5 billion.
Born in Cairo and raised in London, the actor is best known for roles in The Night Manager alongside Tom Hiddleston and McMafia.
More recently, he won a Scottish BAFTA for his performance as a Syrian asylum seeker living on a small Scottish island in drama Limbo.
But El-Masry started his career in Egyptian cinema and in 2008 appeared in the scene in a movie called Ramadan Mabrouk Abou El-Alamein – which earned him an Egyptian Oscar at the age of 18.
After his big win, El-Masry studied drama at the prestigious LAMDA school in London before landing his first UK role in The Night Manager in 2016.

After the fourth series of The Crown came to an end when Margaret Thatcher stepped down as Prime Minister and Charles and Diana’s marriage had come to an end, the new series is expected to cover the final years of Diana’s life before her tragic death. .
It is thought to describe Charles and Diana’s separation and their subsequent relationships with other people – including Diana and Dodi Fayed.
However, some fans aren’t sure what to expect from the new series after a close friend of Diana cut ties with the Netflix show last November.
Jemima Khan stopped helping with the script after claiming the events leading up to Diana’s death were not treated “as respectfully and compassionately” as she had hoped.
Diana and Dodi, who were both killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997, were photographed getting close to a yacht shortly before the accident.

Dodi, a film producer from Egypt, is said to have met Diana in 1986 during a polo match.
He established himself as a playboy in the movie industry and was often seen at high profile parties – and is rumored to have dated movie stars Julia Roberts and Winona Ryder.
It wasn’t until the late 1990s that Dodi and Diana became close after his father Mohamed invited her to spend time with them on his yacht in the summer of 1997.
After the publication of photos showing the couple getting close to the yacht in St Tropez, the couple ended their vacation and flew to Paris, where they died tragically.
Series 5 of The Crown is slated to release on Netflix in November 2022.
