Actor Glen Powell was aggressively booed during an appearance at a Georgia football game over the weekend, even though that was exactly the point.

Powell previously signed on to play football player Chad Powers in a new Hulu series based on the hilarious Eli Manning parody from two years ago.

And on Saturday, Powers and other show participants went to Athens to film a scene at halftime of Georgia’s victory over Mississippi State, with the crowd reportedly being said to loudly boo the actor as he ran onto the field.

Powell and his ‘teammates’ appeared to represent a fictional school, with the letters ‘SG’ on their white and blue jerseys.

Regardless, the thousands of Georgia fans at Sanford Stadium were happy to boo Powell, who also appeared on the jumbo-tron while standing on the field.

The idea for the program came about when Manning visited a tryout at Penn State undercover, while disguising himself so that none of the team’s coaches, other than head coach James Franklin, could recognize him.

Of course, Manning, a two-time Super Bowl winner, sporting a mustache and shaggy haircut, displayed far greater than typical passing ability and left his teammates and coaches in awe before his true identity was revealed.

The hilarious segment from his ESPN show ‘Eli’s Places’ went viral and was eventually turned into a Hulu show, which is being co-written and co-created by Powell.

An official synopsis for the comedy reads: “When bad behavior ruins standout QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he suits up and joins a struggling Southern football team as the talented and affable Chad Powers.”

Previous photos of Powell from filming the show posted by TMZ I saw him wearing an Oregon Ducks jersey, probably like Holiday before he adopted his Powers persona within the show.

Screenwriter Michael Waldron, known for ‘Loki’ and ‘Rick and Morty,’ serves as executive producer along with Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Ben Brown.

The release date of the program has not yet been announced.
