Actor Danny Trejo exchanged blows with a parade-goer who threw a water balloon at him during a Fourth of July event.
The 80-year-old Spy Kids star worked up a storm at the Sunland-Tujunga Independence Day Parade in Los Angeles, where she was a guest star.
Trejo was riding down the parade route in a vintage convertible when he was hit with a water balloon, prompting him to exit the vehicle to confront the man.
Stunned witnesses filmed footage of Trejo and the man throwing savage punches at each other, with the actor falling to the ground while his friend was left with a bloodied face.
Actor Danny Trejo was seen in a crazy video exchanging blows with a parade participant who threw a water balloon at him during a Fourth of July event in Los Angeles.
Trejo’s friend was left covered in blood and the actor fell to the ground during the ugly scenes.
A bigger fight broke out as soon as the 80-year-old was knocked to the ground, as ugly scenes took over the family event.
Another water balloon was also reportedly thrown at Trejo during the fight, as several other men joined in the fight.
The man who initially attacked Trejo then punched another person, sending him to the ground.
Two young children were also seen being pulled away from the convertible as the focus of the fight moved to the sidewalk.
Trejo picked up a folding chair and threw it at another man, before the fight ended when it was broken up by bystanders.
A woman was seen walking away from the group at the end of the fight while holding Trejo – an ex-convict who spent a decade behind bars in the 1960s.
Trejo was driving in a convertible when he was hit by a water balloon, prompting him to get out of the car to confront the person who threw it.
Other men joined the fray as Trejo fell to the ground.
A witness told ABC7 that throwing water balloons is a regular part of Fourth of July celebrations in the Los Angeles suburb, but Trejo was offended when they were delivered to him as a special guest.
“This parade is like throwing water balloons back and forth,” Stanley Herrarte said.
‘The reason Danny was so angry was because people don’t normally throw water balloons at fancy cars when they drive by.’
Another witness, Arnie Abramiam, told Fox11 Los Angeles that it didn’t appear Trejo was looking to cause violence and that “it was more of a confrontation at first.”
Trejo is an ex-convict who spent a decade behind bars in the 1960s but turned his life around to become a movie star.
The fight only broke up when witnesses pulled Trejo away from the others in the fight.
“It’s not like I went there to hit anyone,” he said.
“But then once he got hit, he started throwing punches.”
Abramiam said she hoped the incident would not deter Trejo from returning to his community, as she said she “knows he’s a good man.”
‘Thank you for taking your time and coming to our 4th of July parade, and I’m sorry on behalf of our community… we love you and appreciate you.’
