An active shooter is on the loose at an apartment complex in Colorado.
Police were called to Arista Flats in Broomfield, northwest of Denver, on Thursday morning.
Residents have been ordered to shelter in place and avoid the area.
Police reported that gunshots were still being heard at 10:07 a.m.
A SWAT team and crisis negotiators have been dispatched to help deal with the emergency.

Police said SWAT teams and negotiators have been dispatched to deal with the current situation.
“The surrounding area is UNSAFE,” Broomfield police said in a statement. “Limited evacuations have been conducted. All others should avoid the area.”
Police also confirmed that nearby Jefferson Academy is “on a secure basis.”
“When a building is in a secure state, everything remains the same inside the school,” the statement said. The doors are locked and no one enters or leaves.
