Most of the time it might just be a few bucks down the line, but I just asked a customer and had my air fryer drop $90 because our prices match Harvey Norman’s. All with a simple question.

This Good Guys employee shared how to get a discount on bulky purchases. He advised the anonymous worker to simply ask, “Is this the best rate?”

The tip was ‘liked’ by more than 1,100 people – and while some had no ‘idea’ what the tip was useful for, others shared their own experiences asking for a better price.

“I got a $1,500 TV for $900 last year by doing this!” someone wrote.

I bought a new refrigerator last year that was advertised at $1,400. I asked what he could do best and got it for $1050 and a free 4 liter bottle of washing up liquid another said.

A third added, ‘Most often it might just be a few dollars off, but I just ordered from a customer and his air fryer was reduced by $90 because our prices match Harvey Norman’s. All with a simple question.

Another admitted, “I wish we could do that at Aldi or Woolies or Coles.”

A former employee of Harvey Norman also supported the advice.

After working for Harvey Norman, I refuse to pay full price. There is always at least 10 percent, maybe more if you haggle right.

Don’t mention if you’re putting it into financing until you’ve closed the deal. The more you buy, the bigger the discount… There’s always wiggle room on the price.

One customer writes, “The Good Guys price matched the Ninja Double Drawer Air Fryer for me—it was about $90 cheaper.” The JB Hi-Fi is also great for price matching, they ripped almost $300 off the vacuum for me! “
